HK Police Curiser - Rarity
Collector Colors shown (Color in Parenthesis is Mattel Official Color if different)
Based upon a 1970 Oldsmobile Two-Door Sport Coupe with a Big Block 442 engine.
The 1973 Police Cruisers were made by modifying the original 1971/72 Olds 442 casting. The rear Wing holes were at first just covered over, then later completely removed. A red light and two sirens were added to the roof. A sticker with the word "POLICE" was applied at the factory to both sides of this car. These can be found with both capped and open(late run) rear wheels. All cars come with a black interior. All cars were painted in White Enamel which chips very easily making clean ones very difficult to find.
Values on rough condition ones remain relatively high as these are favorites of the restoration crowd to recreate the 1971 model due to their doorlined bodies and metal full text bases. The main run of these still has the rear wing holes underneath which can easily be reopened.
All production was in Hong Kong.
