US Snake Funny Car - Color Rarity
Collector Colors shown (Color in Parenthesis is Mattel Official Color if different)
This casting was designed and based on the 1970 Plymouth Barracuda Snake Funny Car raced by Don Prudhomme during the 1970 NHRA season, click on the HISTORY tab above for more details about the actual car during that 1970 season and Mattel's sponsorship.
Mattel's US casting features an opening body which can be held up with a black plastic body support bar. The chassis has a zamac engine and a black plastic driver seat inside of a roll cage. The black interiors and support bars are found on 100% of these cars. Wheels are medium caps on the front and large caps on the rear and are attached to a center mounted(through the engine) wheel strip.
Very early run cars have a unique factory applied rounded corner door sticker. This sticker only came factory applied and never appeared on any of the sticker sheets. A full set of stickers was included on the inside of every Blister Card, all of these sticker sheets have squared corner stickers.
Cars that came inside a track set had no stickers pre-applied at the factory.
Early run cars were painted a darker "mustard" shade of yellow. Late run cars show up as a "bright" yellow.
